How to remove nofollow tag from blogger blogspot blog?

You might have seen the comment box embedded below this post. Well this blog Speaking Technology is a dofollow blog and now all links which are in the profile names of the comments will be followed by the search engines and the websites will get backlinks which will enhance their page rank in the search engine results.

If you are using blogger based blog then you might know that by default, the blogger templates puts “nofollow” attribute in every outgoing links posted within the comments. But you can also change it and can make your blog a dofollow blog. This can increase interactivity within your blog due to increase in comments. You might have heard a well known saying “sharing is caring”, so you may also do it by passing page rank juice to the fellow bloggers who invest some time in commenting in your blog.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox browser, then you can check that speaking technology is a dofollow blog. Just select the links in the comments --> right click --> view selection source. You can see that there is no “rel=nofollow” tag in the comments.

You can also do the same by following some easy steps which are mentioned below:

  1. Go to your blogger dashboard.
  2. Go to the template section of your blog [as per the new interface of blogger].
  3. First of all take the backup of your template or else you may pose the risk of corrupting your template by doing something wrong [I can’t be held responsible for that ;)].
  4. Click on edit template and open the html file of your template.
  5. Check the “expand widget template” option.
  6. Now search for the following line of code using search box of your internet browser or type CTRL+F and then paste this line of code:
    <a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel='nofollow'>
  7. Now you can see that there is a “nofollow” attribute present in the code present within your template. Just remove the line [ rel=’nofollow’ ]. Your new line of code should look like the following:
    <a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl'>
  8. Now you can save your template and you can check that the links in your comments are now dofollow type of links.
