1.    Visit the official website of Income Tax Department of India at this link https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
2.    You will find a secure website with https address will open up


3.    Now select the return form from their database as per your category and download that form to your computer
4.    Next step is to download the return preparation software for the return form that you had selected for your e-filing
5.    Now fill your form offline and using the return preparation software, generate a XML file for your return
6.    Next is to upload your return so register as a new user in the website and by creating your user id and password for login.
7.    Next after login select the appropriate form and click “Submit return”
8.    Upload the XML file and then take a print of the acknowledgment form that will be displayed on the screen
9.    Now the process is complete
