Samsung Galaxy A80 with Rotating Camera Launched - Review

On Wednesday, Samsung launched its new flagship device Samsung Galaxy A80 at an event in Thailand. The hype on this phone is due to its super awesome AI features and its Rotating camera.



The device features a 48 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, a secondary 8MP camera with wide angle lens of 123 degree with f/2.0 aperture. In addition to these, it also features a 3D depth camera within the device. Together with these 3 super advanced sensors, whenever user selects selfie mode, the top back panel of phone slides up and the 3 cameras automatically pop-up and rotate to the front.

Its camera hardware and software features Super Steady video mode which can reduce video shakes and ensure smooth video capture, Scene Optimizer with 30 scene detection and Flaw Detection feature which can identify glitches in pictures before it is clicked.




Rotating camera feature is not new in the market but automatic rotation is the new value add available in this device for the first time in the market. Earlier phones by other manufacturers like Oppo N1, iBall Andi Avante 5 also had rotating camera functionality. But, in those devices, user has to manually rotate the camera to take selfie from primary camera.

Samsung Galaxy A80 is equipped with the New Snapdragon 730G SoC, an octa-core processor having 2 cores clocking at  2.2 GHz and 6 cores clocking at 1.7 GHz. The device comes with 128 GB of inbuilt storage and a memory of 8GB RAM. The device supports dual sim and comes loaded with Android 9.0 pie.

The display of this model feature a 6.7 inch full HD+ screen with 1080x2400 pixel Super AMOLED "New Infinity Display". The display is having an aspect ratio of 20:9.

Few other super advanced software features of this phone includes In-display Fingerprint sensor and an Intelligent battery that can learn user routines to optimize battery. It has a 3700 mAh battery supported by 25W "Super Fast Charging" technology.

This phone is expected to be priced at around EUR 649 (approx INR 50,500) and is expected to be available by 29th May 2019 in Asian, European and Russian markets.
