Google Maps now shows COVID-19 Vaccination centers near you

Google Maps has rolled out new updates now, where you can search for nearest health care centers, where you can get Covid-19 vaccine. This information is now visible for countries including India, US, Canada, France, Chile, Singapore, etc.

In the beginning of the year, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet had announced in his blog regarding the allocation of $150 Million to promote vaccine education and equitable access. This also included plans to make it easier for people to find locally relevant information on when and where can they get vaccine. 

Google said they have been getting heavy searches on terms like “vaccines near me” which has increased 5 times at the beginning of the year.

Google has also committed $2.5 Million in grant funding to 3 organizations namely – “Partners in Health”, “Stop the Spread” and “Team Rubicon” to work towards pop-up vaccination sites and other efforts. 

To improve Covid-19 vaccination efforts worldwide, Google is also helping other organizations in Healthcare, Pharma Retail, Logistics and Transportation companies as well as Public Sector Units with its services from Google Cloud. Logistics companies are using its cloud services to track and optimize routes for vaccine transportation, monitor weather to control the temperature fluctuations during transportation, etc. Its technologies are helping the organizations to manage the distribution of vaccines, PPE kits, etc.
