Cardless Cash withdrawal facility at all ATM soon using UPI

Recently Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Shaktikanta Das has announced that RBI has proposed for introducing cardless cash withdrawal facility at all ATMs across all banks in India. This facility is being planned to be introduced with the help of India’s flagship NPCI’s Unified Payment Interface or UPI.

At the moment, only a select few bank such as SBI, ICICI, HDFC bank, etc offers the facility of withdrawing cash from ATM without using physical debit card. With this facility, user from any bank would be able to withdraw cash from any ATM using UPI without the need for a physical ATM card.

This will have added advantage of lesser risk of financial frauds. Many a times, physical ATM cards are exposed to tampered ATM machine or kiosks where scammers tend to do card skimming or sometimes clone the cards.

Having a universal cardless withdrawal facility would be a good step towards a more digitized banking system in India and will also bolster cyber security measures to reduce common financial frauds.

Do you think India should adopt more such measures to enhance the life of people and help them smoothly adopt digitized banking services?
