How to remove Recycle Bin from Desktop?

Did you ever wanted to customize your computer with your own preferred icon and got struck deleting some of the fixed icons. More specifically I am talking about the recycle bin of your computer.



Well it is not recommended to delete the recycle bin from the desktop because it should be present in prime location so that you can access the accidentally deleted files easily and faster without the need to go to the folder of recycle bin following a long route rather than going straight from desktop. But that is an exceptional case because accidental deletion is not frequent and now you can also recover the files which you deleted just a few moments before, simply by clicking on ‘undo’ button.

So some computer users may not need it to be on the desktop and want to get it removed so that their welcome page of the computer looks clean. But the sad part is there is no direct option to hide or remove the recycle bin. But this can be performed by making some changes in the registry editor of your computer.

You can accomplish this task by following these simple steps:

1. Click on the ‘windows’ icon or start menu of your computer.
2. Go for the ‘run’ window
3. In the ‘run’ window, type ‘regedit.exe’ and press enter.
4. This will open the registry editor of your computer. Now locate the sidebars on the left side.
5. Go through the following path “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/Desktop/NameSpace”.
6. After you reached the ‘NameSpace’ folder, you will find a string named as ‘Recycle Bin’ on the right side at the display panel.
7. In windows 7 or higher version, you will find a number of folders inside the ‘NameSpace’ folder with some random strings as their names. Well for them, click on each folder to find which one shows name as ‘Recycle Bin’ on the right side pane.
8. Now when you found that string, simply right click on it and click on ‘delete’.
